Description:
Mountains offer lovely places, sensations and advantages, but they can be dangerous. In spite of this, known risks (related to floor, to physical risks or climate phenomena) can be anticipated or their effect can be reduced with a more precise floor inspection (phone by satellite, localization of inspections), or by an optimized medical assistance at inaccessible points. This risk prevention is the main goal for the STIPP project.
Taking as a start point a deep cooperation among mountaneering profesionals (mountaneering federations and organizations, rangers, shelter guards,...) and authorities responsible for risk prevention and management at the Pyrenees, STIPP project has as a main goal to create an information centre for risk prevention at the Pyrenees. This centre must offer:· Real-time broadcasting of updated information related with risk situations, improved with real data stored by professionals (tourist guides, rangers, shepherds,...) Meteorological and snow-datalogging coordinated information from both sides of the massif.· A call emergency system geo-located by satellite that gives access to rescue services at places not covered by GSM. Assistance to injured people before rescue services arriving with tele-assistance medical equipment at the shelters.
This project also includes users formation and dissemination of service all around the massif .
SALUD works in the action group related to injured people assistance, cooperating in the deployment of the "telemedicine backpack". This "telemedicine backpack" is comprised by medical equipment in order to monitor injured people vital parameters and to send them to a reference centre where a specialized assitance can be offered, prior the injured are taken to the hospital.
